Hearthstone is widely believed to be one of the best free to play iPad games available; a claim we don’t dispute. Today, Blizzard released details on how Hearthstone players will unlock the wings of Hearthstone’s next expansion: Curse of Naxxramas.
The expansion will be released as five “wings” of single player content, each giving players opportunities to unlock new cards. The plan for release, as Blizzard outlined today, is for the first wing to be released as a free update for all players that play within the launch event, i.e., the first month. Each subsequent wing, of which there are four, will cost players $6.99 or 700 gold. Purchasing several wings at once comes with a bit of a discount, depending on how many you purchase. Unfortunately, there is no such purchase if you’re spending gold rather than real money. Here’s the breakdown (remember, the first tier is free):
- Five wings = $24.99
- Four wings = $19.99
- Three wings = $14.99
- Two wings = $9.99
- Individual wings = $6.99 or 700 gold
To purchase fewer than all five wings, you’ll need to already own those that came before it. So for example, if you want to purchase three wings, you’ll have to already own wings one and two.
It’s worth nothing that the wings will be released one at a time over the course of a month, so if you buy them all at once on day one, you’ll only be able to play the first wing, while having the remaining four pre-paid.
Of course, if you haven’t yet played Hearthstone, what are you waiting for? Try it now!
